Study of movements through algorithms
I really loved this TED talk about a matemathitian explaining how a machine can study through algorithms the movements in basketball (and in any sport).
Some time ago, the machines could also study movements but not since the point of view of a coach, and the coach couldn't analyze the movements as fast and precisely as a machine could do. Now, with the ability of giving the machine previous movements to study them and stablish a routine in order to distinguish them when they occur, it's possible to have a clear statistic about the movements of basketball player in some actions as pick as roll.
The way of doing that is giving the machine lots of actions that are actually pick and roll and los of them that are not and make the machine study the differences between them, in order to identify them and differenciate from others.
